Thursday, July 17th, 2008It seems that this is your first visit. Would you like to subscribe? Enjoy your visit! Most all of us have to deal with them at one time or another. The vast majority of folks purchase all of their autos through a dealer. Typically they trade in whatever they currently drive whenever it’s […]
If I had $10k to spend today . . .
Monday, June 30th, 2008. . . on a car that didn’t have to be my daily driver, here’s what I would look at. All of these are available on Ebay as this is written with a Buy-it-now of less than $10,000.
If I were in the mood for a true classic, there’s this 1937 Buick Sedan.
Still in the classic […]
1983 Porsche 928S mini-review
Thursday, June 19th, 2008 My buddy Mike added yet another car to his ever-growing collection. He’s now up to three cars, two trucks, two motorcycles, a boat, and a camper.
Already having the American and Italian bases covered, this time he decided on a German make.
The car shows ~31,000 miles on the odometer, but they are known to be flaky […]
It’s road trip time!
Thursday, May 15th, 2008 That’s right. Another adventure awaits.
A few weeks ago, my wife’s ‘98 Audi A4 gave up the ghost. The oil supply line for the turbo blew off and pumped all of the oil out of the engine.
Ebay to the rescue. I found a wrecked ‘97 that still had a good engine. It’s in Penssylvania and […]
My thoughts on Ecotrekker’s Ultimate guide to hypermiling
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 Hypermiling - The act of extracting every possible mile from each gallon of gasoline.
Ecotrekker put together a 100 point post to help you in your quest to wring the most from your fuel tank. While this list is pretty good overall, I feel the need to point out some problems.
#5 . . . Coasting […]
Honda’s reverse auto loan calculator - magnificent!
Thursday, January 24th, 2008Honda’s website has the coolest, most useful feature I’ve ever run across on an automaker’s website. It’s a reverse calculator for auto loans. You input the maximum monthly payment you can afford, and the amount you can put down, and it provides a list of cars (all Hondas of course) that […]

NAIAS 2008 - Ford design tour
Sunday, January 13th, 2008The highlight of the auto show for me has been a tour of Ford/Lincoln/Mercury products led by none other than Peter Horbury, Ford’s Executive Director, Design, North America.
The vehicles he discussed were the New F-150, The Ford Flex, the Ford Verve concept (possible production by 2010), and the Mercury Mariner Hybrid.
Audio of the entire tour […]
Ford’s Verve a stylistic success
Sunday, January 13th, 2008Ford’s Verve concept is a gorgeous car to look at, and you can’t fault them for trying to introduce a viable contender in the small car market. I think the real sticking point will be price. If they can’t bring this car to market at a price comparable to a Honda Civic, I’m afraid it […]
I visited the Henry Ford museum today
Saturday, January 12th, 2008 I just got back from the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn, MI today.
Wow!
There’s a lot to see there, and not just cars.
Don’t get me wrong, there were a lot of cars, but they also have antique furniture, airplanes, motorcycles, farm equipment, and - my favorite - old steam engines and power station equipment.
Check out […]
