Electric Cars - Take Two
Wednesday, July 9th, 2008It seems that this is your first visit. Would you like to subscribe? Enjoy your visit! About a year ago, I asked “Are electric cars ready for primetime?”
It seems the answer was a resounding no.
Let’s see where each of those three stand today.
Tesla Roadster - A year ago I said that this one […]
Lane Departure Prevention- the next must-have safety item?
Thursday, February 7th, 2008When I was at the Detroit Auto Show last month, I tried out Volvo’s lane departure prevention simulator (pictured). It is a great idea, if it can be implemented well. If the vehicle senses that you are leaving your lane, it gives you aural (a beep) and tactile (rumbling in your seat cushion) alerts. It […]
Honda must be listening? CB1100F is a go!
Monday, February 4th, 2008According to the good fellows at Jalopnik, the CB1100F will be in Honda showrooms as early as next year.
Where do I send my deposit?

NAIAS 2008 - Ford design tour
Sunday, January 13th, 2008The highlight of the auto show for me has been a tour of Ford/Lincoln/Mercury products led by none other than Peter Horbury, Ford’s Executive Director, Design, North America.
The vehicles he discussed were the New F-150, The Ford Flex, the Ford Verve concept (possible production by 2010), and the Mercury Mariner Hybrid.
Audio of the entire tour […]
Ford’s Verve a stylistic success
Sunday, January 13th, 2008Ford’s Verve concept is a gorgeous car to look at, and you can’t fault them for trying to introduce a viable contender in the small car market. I think the real sticking point will be price. If they can’t bring this car to market at a price comparable to a Honda Civic, I’m afraid it […]
Hyundai’s new Genesis
Tuesday, January 8th, 2008 One of the cars I’m particularly interested in seeing in Detroit this weekend is the new Hyundai Genesis.
I think this just might be the car that they hoped the Tiburon would be. That is, a Civic killer.
The Genesis has all the requisite ingredients: rear drive (drifting anyone?), turbocharged four cylinder (easy power […]
NAIAS, better known as the Detroit Auto Show
Friday, December 21st, 2007 The Detroit Auto Show is just around the corner, and I might just have an inside line.
Right now there is the possibility that I will be able to attend the press preview portion of the NAIAS January 12 and 13. If so, get your requests in for what you would like to see […]
Upcoming cars I’m most anticipating
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007It seems that there are more exciting cars on the horizon now than ever. Here are a few of my favorites.
Chevy Volt
I’ve written about the Volt before, so I’ll keep this brief. Who can argue with 150 mpg for 60 mile trips. Sure you’ll use some electricity, but it’s cheap compared to gas.
BMW 1-Series
The 135 […]
The Next-Generation automobile
Monday, June 18th, 2007For all of the different styles of automobiles around, it’s amazing how similar they all are to each other. Doors that open outward (in almost every case). Driver in sitting position with passenger beside him. The list of similarities goes on and on.
How many standard features of our cars could be done […]
